THE yellow fever death toll in Northern Uganda has risen to 48, the Director General of Health Services, Dr. Nathan Kenya Mugisha, has said.

The number of people infected by the disease has also escalated to 190, though the epidemic is still confined to the 10 districts of Northern Uganda, according to Mugisha.

The affected districts are Abim, Agago, Lamwo, Pader, Kitgum, Gulu, Arua, Kaabong, Kotido and Lira.

The ministry has instituted public awareness campaigns against the disease as they await the arrival of vaccines. They plan to vaccinate 2.5 million people.

The ministry has also deployed technical staff to monitor the disease.
