Cases of Malaria in Busia District Rise Alarmingly

Busia County has experienced rapid increase of malaria cases over the last one month. A spot check done by the Star yesterday revealed that the total number of patients who have visited Busia District Hospital this month has been increasing as compared to other months.

The number of patients below 5-years has increased by 5 per cent totalling to 7,697 this month compared to last month which was 6,875. The number of adults has increased by 10 per cent totaling to 7,000 compared to last month which was 6,100. Most of the patients who visit the hospital come from Uganda.

About 102,000 mosquito nets are yet to be distributed in the county and the exercise will start immediately Sh1.8 million which will be used for implementation activity is released. The activity is sponsored by Donor Money Global Fund and World Health Organization.
