Kenya Cancer Association (KenCASA) on Tuesday called on the government to operationalize the Cancer Control Bill 2012 to enable affordable healthcare to Kenyans seeking treatment.

The association’s Chair Ann said the cancer bill which was assented to by the president in July last year, will enable Kenyans access cancer treatment at subsidized costs.

Speaking at the Kenyatta National Hospital Korir also called on the government to make available early screening for cancer in all referral hospitals to help in early detection of cancer.

Meanwhile KNH Head of Breast Imaging Unit Doctor Betty Bonass called on women to go for early screening to help curb the disease.

Statistics has it that cancer is the number two killer disease affecting women in the world after HIV/Aids.

Earlier today KenCASA donated breast prosthesis and wigs for needy cancer patients from proceeds of the hair shaving event that took place at the village market last year.
