Yellow Fever vaccination is now valid for life

When one wants to travel internationally, it is a requirement to have certification of vaccination against yellow fever. The protection provided by vaccination against the infection under the International Health Regulations (2005) is ten years.

However, according to a statement released by the World Health Organization, an amendment has been made to Annex 7 of the regulations and the validity has been changed from 10 years to life of the person vaccinated. This applies to those who hold existing or new certificates effective July 11th 2016. Re-vaccination or a booster dose of yellow fever vaccine will not be required as a condition of entry into a State Party, regardless of the date the international certificate of vaccination was initially issued.

This lifetime validity of these certificates applies automatically to certificates issued after 11 July 2016, as well as certificates already issued.
